A digital detox, why not? In our constantly connected world, screens lead us into a frantic digital waltz. We chase notifications, messages, e-mails, even likes, relentlessly... But how about a deliciously "offline" break? Imagine for a moment a place where the air is filled with the scent of flowers instead of mobile data, where birdsong replaces ringing phones, and where the brightest screen is the setting sun. Not so simple? No, of course not, but you'll see that it's a step towards a more serene reality that's more than worth it!

Addicted to screens?

Addicted to the telephone? I'm sure others are, but not me! And yet, on average, we consult our smartphone over 200 times a day. That's a lot! This little object has become our faithful companion from morning to night, and sometimes even during the night. So much so, in fact, that nanophobia has taken hold. You're probably wondering what it is? Well, it's the intense fear of being separated from your cell phone...

We're not all nanophobes yet (thankfully!), but it's true that we are a bit addicted to screens. A veritable technological Swiss army knife, our phone has become our GPS, our DJ, our personal photographer, our alarm clock and even our means of payment. An assistant who's always ready to follow us and never complains... And above all, it's our link with the outside world and our loved ones.

In short, screens are all the time, but there's nothing abnormal about it - don't worry, it's in the air of time. However, guess who's evolving more slowly than our smartphones? Our brains! And no matter how hard it tries to keep up, it just can't keep up! With every notification, every article read, every post liked, there's a new piece of information to process. In other words, it's a long way from adopting the Slow Life mode. So why not offer him a little respite from time to time? A little digital detox, just to see?

Onwards to digital disconnection!

To discover the benefits of a digital detoxthe first thing to do is to become aware of how much time you spend on your phone. Most smartphones provide you with this information. And if you decide it's too much (9 hours a day, really?!), we've got a few tips for you:

  • Set up applications to find out your digital dependency score and manage it with restrictive parameters (BreakFree, QualityTime...).

  • Bring out the traditional alarm clock: a good old-fashioned mechanical or electronic alarm clock will chase your smartphone out of your bedroom. A peaceful night's sleep guaranteed!

  • Turn off your phone at night and turn it back on when you're ready to start your day. (You know the Off button? Yes, it works!)

  • Use the silent mode for evenings out with family and friends, and enjoy the conversation to the full. (Be careful to concentrate, as the conversation may get a little deeper...)

  • Don't take your cell phone with you when you go for a walk (yes, yes, it's possible!) and observe nature. (Oh, it's autumn already?)

  • Return to the leisure activities you enjoyed at home before the omnipresence of screens (cooking, books, meditation, puzzles, board games, DIY...).

Ready to take up the challenge and try this little digital detox? Yes, you can! You might even be pleasantly surprised by all the time you save. And to replace digital distractions, why not rediscover the benefits of puzzle activity?
