Fear not, we have a few tricks up our sleeve, and even a homemade recipe to lovingly preserve your work. Get ready, and let's get gluing!
The best puzzle glue is the one you have!
Good news! When it comes to glues , you're spoiled for choice: liquid, spray, powder, gel, for paper, for cardboard … There's one for every situation and at every price! So, which one should you choose to cherish your creation as it deserves? Well, from a sustainable development perspective, the best option is the glue you already have at home ! Yes, we advocate responsible consumption !
Well, maybe not your children's tube, you know, that stick that makes their notebook pages fly out at the slightest breeze? After all, you wouldn't want your carefully assembled pieces to make a grand artistic escape…
However, any other reasonably strong glue will do. And to avoid damaging your beautiful work, we advise you to turn the puzzle over and apply it to the back . Yes, you can do it, we believe in you! You may not be a puzzle enthusiast , but you've just assembled hundreds of pieces like a pro! 👍🧩

And a homemade glue to fix your puzzle?
Not a single drop of glue in sight? Or perhaps you prefer natural and environmentally friendly products ? No worries, we have exactly what you need! As avid DIY enthusiasts, we've concocted a very simple preparation for you: economical, non-toxic, and above all, readily available.
Open your cupboards, grab the flour and follow our magic homemade glue recipe for your puzzle :
-
Pour ½ glass of water and 2 tablespoons of flour into a saucepan over low heat.
-
Mix vigorously with a whisk to avoid any unwanted lumps.
-
Gradually add ½ glass of water while stirring continuously.
- When the mixture thickens, put it in a bowl and let it cool gently .
And voilà, your artistic béchamel sauce is ready! Be careful, it's not strong glue: we recommend a frame for added safety!
The art of collage
You want your puzzle to be more than perfect, don't you? So don't neglect the importance of meticulously checking how the pieces fit together and press, press, press again… No suspicious movement? The pieces don't seem about to come loose? Perfect!
If you opted for back-facing application , sandwich your masterpiece between two sheets of stiff cardboard and turn it over. A little tip ? Use rectangular plastic placemats !
And now, let's get down to business, because this is the long-awaited moment of gluing with its 6 crucial steps :
-
Carefully dust the surface to remove any dust or cardboard debris.
-
Coat your brush with glue .
-
Tap on the joints without soaking the pieces, otherwise there is a risk of warping!
-
Make sure to cover the entire area evenly.
-
Allow to dry for 24 hours.
-
Admire and savor your success!

Tips for fixing a puzzle without glue
Don't like the idea of getting glue all over your fingers? Don't panic! You can choose a frame and assemble the pieces directly onto the background. Discover the method used by Laetitia, co-founder of Jour Férié, who shares her top tip!
And since we're always bursting with creativity, another option is to repurpose adhesive tape to protect books. After measuring the required size, cut and cover the entire back surface. For a touch of perfection, use a sheet of plastic to press firmly and smooth it out to eliminate any unwanted air bubbles.
And once everything is completely dry, what will you do with your artwork? If you want to proudly display it, follow our guide to exhibiting it ! Otherwise, you can store it flat using a puzzle board. But let's face it, if you have one of our beautiful creations, like Falling Snow , it definitely deserves to be showcased!
