Have you heard of the BISOU method? Well, it's nothing new - a big kiss cheers you up! But the one we're talking about today is actually good for our precious planet. It's the name of a technique that involves 5 key questions to ask ourselves in order to consume more thoughtfully and responsibly. Reduce our environmental impact by limiting over-consumption? And at the same time manage our budget better? Well, it's a double advantage we can't resist! Say goodbye to compulsive and superfluous purchases, buy less and better thanks to BISOU!

The BISOU method before any purchase

The BISOU method is a mnemonic designed to guide us in our choices as consumers. It's a magical acronym, because each letter refers to a crucial question before pulling out your credit card:

  • B as in Need: What need does this purchase meet?

  • I as in Immediate: Do I need it right away?

  • S is for Similar: Do I own a similar item?

  • O as in Origin: Where does this product come from?

  • U as in Useful: Is it really useful to me?

This technique was created by Marie Duboin and Herveline Giraudeau, authors of the bookres J'arrête de surconsommer ! and L'abus de consommation responsable rend heureux! to combat overconsumption.

To limit impulse buying

Before you give in to the temptation of a new purchase, stop for a moment and ask yourself if it's really necessary. Imagine the B of BISOU as a benevolent friend who whispers an essential question in your ear: "Does this product fill a void in your life, or is it just a passing whim?"

Let's face it, modern society encourages us to want it all here and now. That's why it's hard to deal with frustration! Fortunately, BISOU's I comes to the rescue with a friendly wink: "Are you sure you need this right now?"

If the answer is uncertain, why not put off spending a little longer? You'll soon find out if it was just a passing fancy. And your wallet will thank you for it... The BISOU method is infallible for managing your budget!

For eco-responsible consumption

If you're not convinced, call on the letters S and U of your favorite acronym: "Will my new item end up collecting dust in a corner? Or will it replace a misplaced twin in the vastness of my closet?" Yes, but it's not quite the same color...

Often, we tend to unconsciously gravitate towards similar products, and hello unnecessary purchases! And even if it is possible to resell them on second-hand sites, the planet already has enough problems, doesn't it? Maybe we can avoid overloading it any further!

And to top it all off, BISOU's O encourages us to take a look at the provenance of objects: "Is this good made responsibly? Did it travel thousands of kilometers to land in our hands?" Made in France and eco-responsible products and eco-responsible products are on a roll, so let's make the most of it!
